I read the post for this contest on my Nexus 6 while sitting on my living room couch. I looked up at my mantle, saw several things that are all at least 45 years old (including the paneling on the wall) and took this picture. I guess that's vintage. Stock Nexus camera using HDR+ and stock photo editor (Snapseed).

Dacha.jpg

Summer 2013 at my wife's family dacha (cabin) in Russia. Grandpa watering the garden. The car is a Moskvich from around 1970 that still runs. Taken on a Nexus 4 using CameraZOOM FX. It's been a while but I would have used either Snapseed, Camera360 or CameraZOOM FX to add the classic photo look.

A photo contest with a mobile camera taking a photo of an old camera, how much more meta can it get?

The camera is a vintage film camera. Not sure exactly how old, as it was my grandparents, but I'd guess from the late 50s/early 60s. Some people will have different ideas of what vintage means, but I feel something that's from the era qualifies. A little research tells us that an item over 50 years old is usually considered vintage, although there are vintage time periods as well.

The setup: MotoX (2014) using a little gorillapod tripod to take the shot. Stock camera app and HDR. I didn't want a cluttered background, so I used a piece of poster board to keep it simple white. For fill/brighter background I used my 2013 MotoX as a flashlight and my Gear Live to remote trigger the camera. Totally Android'd out.

Once that was done, I used Photos to add to the vintage look with some effects. IMG_20150122_164019583_HDR~2.jpg

Bike is a Mobylette, half bicycle half motorbike. Imported into Vietnam from France from the early 1950's. They were for the super elite in Vietnam until Honda made it big. This particular bike could possibly be the most travelled, France to Vietnam in 1953, driven around Vietnam for +50 years, restored in 2014, and has now been exported to Bermuda. I managed to secure a post restoration test ride and was able to take a few photos. Photo was taken just before shipping, and fittingly infront of a lotus pond, with lotus being one of the traditional symbols for Vietnam. Phone, Sony ZL2 (yes it does exist).
