Hello Pixel C community!!!

Just wanted to give my initial impressions and pictures.

To sum up the initial experience, this device screams premium. It starts with unboxing:

The Pixel C is extremely well packaged for shipping. I cannot think of an electronic device that came packaged better. So far so good...

The outer packaging is also very nice and each box does have some weight to it:

Google and the Pixel Team did a great job on the opening experience. Again just screams of quality:

Upon opening each box you are met with the basic instructions, charging cable, keyboard, and a lot of protective wrapping that covered the device well.

After powring up the Pixel C, it will have you input your internet information so it can download the latest software. It also stated it needed to update the firmware which is something I am not use to seeing but everything went smoothly.

After all the updates (about 5-10 min) I attached the Pixel C to it's keyboard dock and got the full feel of the device:

It is safe to say that it is something to behold. I know that may sound over the top but this really is a beautiful piece of equipment:

So far everything is really responsive. The screen is brilliant and very bright. There is no lightbleed that I can tell whatsoever. Lightbleed is a BIG pet peeve of mine and this is refreshing to see that it is a non issue. The power and volume buttons have the same feel as the finish and they are firm. There is a tactile (not audible) click to them that I wish more devices have.

The speakers are loud and clear. They do lack in the low end but that is to be expected in phones/tablets in general right now. The mic's for "OK Google" work well close up (about 5ft range) but further than that it only sometimes picks up my command. I think I read down the road they will have support for "OK Google" with the screen off but for now it only works with it on.

The keyboard is very robust. It has a weight to it that builds confidence for travel. When the keyboard is attached to the front of the display the device has a solid and firm feel. It really has that familiar laptop feel when it is closed. Typing on the keyboard is a breeze. I was afraid the thin enter key would give me trouble but so far it has not. I do wish there was a track pad but I was planning on getting a portable mouse (Microsoft Arc Touch) for productivity on the go.

I set this up as a brand new device. After the setup and updates there is about 23.5 GB of storage left over. While charging there is a slight warmth coming off the back. It is charging (as I type) very rapidly. The charge cable is the USB type C and the length is adequate and on par with every other device I have bought.

All in all this is a very nice device so far. I have much to do with it still to get the full feel but right now it is blowing me away! I thought the initial experience of the Nexus 6P was great...This is amazing! :D

Thanks for reading and let me know if you have any questions or concerns and I will try to address them asap!

How's the weight?

I currently have an iPad Air 2 and its slightly under 1lb. So fairly light.

Initially I thought that would be an issue but its all in how you use it I suppose. So when it is connected to the keyboard it is fairly heavy. When I just hold the tablet by itself it is not that bad. Either way works for me though. When they are attached I use it more like a laptop. So it is either on a desk or in my lap. When I just want to read and peruse the internet I just have the tablet. Together they are more heavy than I anticipated but really not that bad.

Keep us posted as you go! I'm very interested in the tablet itself, keyboard is a *maybe* here, but interested in how it performs.

Nice write up! This has been my experience well re: weight. Keyboard attached it is heavy. Keyboard detached it is comparable to N9. But, with keyboard attached it is always on my lap or a table so no worries there. Slapping it onto the back is annoying though, unless there is nowhere else to put it (which in my case is offten the situation, so I appreciate the option to slap it on the back when needed).

Yep! Sounds the same with me. When I am just using the tablet I do not have the keyboard attached to the back. When I travel like on a plane I can see myself doing that though.

Nice writeup. I just got my Pixel C yesterday and I'm loving it so far. No performance issues that I had read from other reviews, beautiful screen, beautiful body, great size etc. I think it's a really great tablet despite reading reviews saying it's mediocre.

Granted there are some improvements needed, like split screen apps and some apps just look downright horrible on the tab (like Hangouts), other than that I'm liking it a whole lot.

This is awesome. Thanks for sharing!

I really love this tablet keyboard combo. It is really unfortunate it is getting all this bad press. I mean, I get it that it is not a productivity powerhouse like the Surface Pro but that is not what I was knowingly getting into. I just wanted a solid, primium, nexus-like tablet that also has a premium keyboard. That is exatly what I got.

Yeah battery life and performance is excellent, there are bugs (WiFi, touchscreen) which may make it a deal breaker for some. It's a good 10" Android tablet, if that's your expectation going in you won't be disappointed except for noted bugs.

Wifi and the touchscreen are the most important components when it comes to using a tablet...how can you even recommend this....

This is entirely dependant on whether or not the dev team fixes the issues before the return period of Jan 22nd. Everything else is great though. It is the big two that need to be resolved. WiFi and touchscreen.
