I've found most people couldn't care less about what the government does. People generally feel the government wouldn't do anything out of line to American citizens, and that even if they did, we can't do anything about it. That article was right in that we are lazy and disinterested.

A little known fact that most Americans aren't even remotely aware of is that our so-called 'National Security Agency' intercepts and stores American citizens emails and communications to the tune of 1.7 BILLION PER DAY !

Political commentator and Constitutional lawyer, Glenn Greenwald, best described this truly radical change in our world when he wrote "The core guarantee of Western justice since the Magna Carta, 1215 AD, was codified in the U.S. by the 5th Amendment to the Constitution: 'No person shall be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law.' "
He might well have added the 4th Amendment to the Constitution: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures...~" basically, the right to privacy and protection against unreasonable search and seizure.

Without due process and the right to privacy . . .each of us is essentially living at the mercy of the U.S.S.S. (U.S. surveillance state). And all in the name of trying to stop a 'terrorist threat' blown wildly out of proportion.
