Please sign the petition for Chris Kyle:
Text below copied from the request submitted.

We the people demand that the United States flag be flown at half mast in honor of one of our nation's great heroes, CPO Chris Kyle. Chief Petty Officer Kyle saved countless lives of the troops he served with in his tours overseas. He served this country with honor in his military career and continued to help his fellow veterans after his discharge. This man is one of this nation's great sons and he deserves this nation's respect. We ask that the flag be ordered to half mast for a period of one week in honor of a hero.

Meanwhile.... Texas Governor Rick Perry has not ordered the US Flags in Texas lowered to half staff either... even though it is within his discretion to do so.

Because Rick Perry is a pompous buffoon first, and a true patriot second.

I'd just like to add something sincere on this thread. While I don't agree much with the military, the fact that Mr. Kyle was murdered while trying to help someone out is a true tragedy.

I really couldn't care less about how you don't agree with the military much. He was a hero in the same caliber as Audie Murphy, he deserves your respect and nothing less.

Trust me when I tell you this, what I posted is no where near what I wanted to say.

Don't agree with the military? You mean us guys who take orders from your elected officials, who don't make independent decisions, the same ones who go overseas and fight and die to protect your freedom. Cool good to know me and my buddies aren't appreciated as per usual I love the uninformed :banghead:.

The men and women that join our military do so for their own reasons. But there are a special few that feel a calling to serve and protect something bigger than themselves. They understand the true meaning of the words honor, duty, and sacrifice. They lay their lives on the line daily because of the strength of their convictions.

How can you not agree with the military that's not the problem we are told to jump by your elected officials not the other way around. You guys are pointing fingers at the wrong establishment.

We have a day assigned to honor all veterans that have given their lives whether in the line of duty, home or abroad. It's called veterans day. Chris will never be forgotten. He was a great patriot and friend.. There are no individual days that are set aside or needed individually. These men live forever because the us armed forces never die.

There are many reasons why people could not agree with the military, some are valid, some are people being ignorant. That doesn't mean they're "uninformed", they just have a different opinion.

Personally I only hate people in the army I know that are cocky as hell cause they think their tough and yet this one guy I know that apparently is a soldier, he's bigger than me (which is pretty big), and talks more trash than anyone I know and yet is a bloody coward(ran away from a fight against a friend of mine that's half my size cause he was losing.) I don't hate the military in general, especially ones that go to Iraq and I know that people like the tool I just mentioned are a small percentage.

My point is you're taking it too personally, some of the nicest people in the world are also the most unappreciated. The fact that they keep doing what they do anyway is what makes them great.

Then when rapper Heavy D dies Obama sends a letter of condolences to his family, and the death of a true hero goes unnoticed, this is unacceptable.

Maybe I am taking it too personal, but CPO Kyle isn't here to defend himself so I feel that someone needs to step up when required.

Yeah, but he got what was coming to him. (Like he said he ran away like a coward when he saw he couldn't win as easily as he thought, he even started the fight and got his friend to distract him so he could sucker-punch him but it was a public area so 20 people or so saw him do this lol probably didn't do much for his rep. :P)

Btw, I wonder if the WBC actually protested his funeral like they said they would? Now THOSE are some cowards that would be smarter to NOT mess with the funeral of the deadliest sniper in US history.

Sad to see the "holier than thou" attitude here. Some men in uniform do drugs, murder innocent civilians, rape subordinate women, and other moral failure. No, I don't respect ALL service men and women because they don't deserve it. I respect the ones that deserve respect, like Mr. Kyle.

That's an individual thing that goes against the values that we in the military strive to uphold one should not hold the entire organization accountable for the actions of an individual. We try to stop these things before they happen but same as the civilian world you can't stop everyone.

Personally, I prefer to respect everyone then if an individual shows they are not worthy of respect things will change.

From what I read online the funeral procession made up of family, friends, active duty military, veterans patriot guard and police escorts was over 200 miles long.
