The right wing in the states will tell you that it will destroy the economy. In fact, a few right wingers will tell you we should lower the minimum wage in the states to bring manufacturing back.

Yup, that's the right wing argument. If you disagree with it you're a left wing socialist out to destroy freedom..

Terrible article. I thought I was reading the Onion at the end there. There was a lot of generalizations at the end I just closed that article out.

The right wing argument is it kills jobs and makes prices skyrocket, which I used to agree with until I read that article and understood the historics of it. Minimum wage increases hurt the economy over all, but not for the talking points most people use. If either of you wish to debate the article, I'm all ears. Simply brushing it off as pointless without giving reason means nothing.

Time to move to Switzerland then. It works for Switzerland because aren't they like a really economic rich country? They can afford to heighten the minimum wage. I welcome in increase in the US, but I doubt it'll ever get to $15 even.

There's nothing to argue, income inequality, which we have discussed several times in this forum says it all. Maybe you think income inequality is bogus.

How about we roughly split the difference and just raise the US minimum wage to 15/hr. I'd have about half my debt gone by this time next year, maybe almost 2/3s.

I think government giving people arbitrary raises for zero extra productivity is bogus. Do you have anything to address the history of what happened with past increases? Like the idea or not, if the results I posted are true, then one would have to figure future increases would create similar poor results.

No one was for the stimulus Obama got through those years ago, no one was for raising taxes on the rich, no one was for raising minimum wage. If everyone keeps shooting down possible solutions for our economy can they at least give some alternatives? Gosh, do we just let our country stew in it's mess or do we at least try some stuff to see what happens before shooting it down.

How about we start with reducing the size of the federal government and only allow it to do what it was designed to do. Stop paying people to not work. Quit giving money to other countries, especially the ones that don't like us. Stop trying to police the world. The answer isn't more government, it is less.

And stop using regulation, the tax code, and lobbying to let the government choose winners and losers in the business world.

Those aren't solutions for the economy. Those are blanket complaints from the right, try again.

You aren't interested in solutions. All you care about is what more the government can do to make you feel better. The answer isn't in another government plan. It is each and every one of us taking responsibility for the world we live in.

Yeah, they should practice the same business model that CEOs practice, give themselves bonuses after running a company into the ground.... Click image for larger version.

That's why this November is real important. If more GOP gets in than gets out, then we're going to deal with more of the same BS. Time to vote out those that still believe in "Trickle Down".

Fine, but only if you don't take it the wrong way when I say why don't you (and others that don't like it) debate the points where you think the article is wrong instead of giving a blanket dismissal with no substance. For an example of how to do it, look at my reply to Palandri's post in the immigration thread where he posted the Think Progress piece. But had I known simply saying something like the piece was left wing garbage would satisfy your guys idea of debate, I would have saved myself the trouble of breaking it apart.

That was very vague to say the least. Unfortunately we all want to see the good in people but, more times than not we can't always trust people to do the right thing unfortunately.

What I'm noticing here is both sides (right and left) won't accept a solution or compromise from the other side.

For example, if a company is forced to pay extra money, why wouldn't they raise prices?

Is that really a fallacy? More so logic.

It goes right back to the income inequality debate. The numbers clearly show the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Then if you dare question income inequality you are labelled a left wing socialist out to destroy freedom and wanting everything for free.

Simple fact is the heritage as a source is crap. As such I will not waste time even reading. I can promise you that they cherry picked with out even looking at it. Heritage is even a less valid source than for news.

Btw think progress I will also call an invalid source.

The fact that you think heritage is valid in any way. Do not try using it as a valid source to make an argument. It is crap. Part of the reason I refuse to even read it is it would make my blood boil at the lies it tries to feed and what is sadder is people buy it.
