Show X newest pictures from local folder as grid widget?

Hello,

I am looking for a widget which can do the following:
- Display a certain number of pictures in a grid view as widget on the homescreen
- In the grid only a certain number of pictures should be shown
- Always the X newest pictures should be shown (by file creation date - preftered over EXIF data)

Why?
I want to set up a tablet for "the grandparents" which shows the newest pictures of their grand child on their homescreen.
Makes sense for all grandparents out there, no?

Background:
I am uploading the newest pictures to a Synology DiskStation.
The DiskStation folder is synced on the tablet.
