    Default Is it rooted yet?

Isn't the 14th Monday? Lol. Need root to be able to make my switch from Tbolt a breeze with Titanium and still be able to Tether my Xoom when needed.

Update: Googled it, seems like HTC Amaze method will work on Rezound. Time to go over and take a look at the Amaze forum.

The Amaze root does indeed work. However, the bootloader will not unlock at this time. Until we can unlock the bootloader this is only a temp root.

Just google one click rezound root, it works but seems to be only temporary. I've used tether successfully with it, but somehow lost su twice and had to rerun the exe file on the computer.

The SU in the root files is outdated. Over on XDA they have updated files that you can substitute.

I plan on rooting my Rezound, but I'm overwhelmed by some of the instructions I've seen out there for rooting various phones. I'm technically oriented and assume that once I actually do it real time with my own device I'll figure it out. In the meantime, I've read that the rooting process for some phones has become less complicated. Not sure where I read it specifically. Do you think this will be true for the Rezound?

There's only temporary root options that reset when you restart the phone or sooner. With the level of devs we have researching the phone, we'll have a permanent root eventually.

If I do the One click root listed above, could it still brick the phone since it is a temp root, like would a battery pull bring it back to normal? I ask becuase I cannot get my Touchpad to recognize my droid 2 (I will be picking up my Rezound soon).

You have to almost intentionally try to brick a phone in order for it to brick. In theory, if the rooting process messes up your phone and causes it to freeze, a battery pull should solve whatever issue was caused by a temp root.
But still, I'd advise you to wait for a permanent root. I remember trying to use some of the first root methods for my OG Droid, and those were complicated 10x as much as the simple one-click methods are today.

I have used the temp root. Anything you use it for only last at best a couple hrs..most about 15 minutes.

As of right now, I'll say supposedly. We'll find out later today.

This is totally just a theory and random observation but it seems like the current method (attempt) to hack the bootloader comes from going through the SIM card which seems to point backwards at big red having some direct control over the phone through the SIM. Maybe they set it up intentionally this way to monitor who is rooted, unlocked, etc, and cut them off, monitor them, throttle them, whatever. I know I will be going through a lot of data on my unlimited plan once I have a 4g phone. If I was a big evil empire I would want to put me under a thumb.

I wonder if it's possible that newer phones could be built in a way that even if a phone is rooted and unlocked, running a customer rom, that big red could force changes through the sim card?

Or maybe I'm just being paranoid and need to go have a beer and relax.

Yes you're being paranoid, no it's not unlocked. We've been temp rooted for a while now and that's as good as it gets right now.

Remove yor tin foil hat (for now).
The RAZR and Nexus are rooted/unlocked, so this SIM card theory is incorrect.

I have a feeling we're getting close, though. I forget the name, but this guy had a twitter feed of his progress on rooting the Rezound and how it was burning out his SIM cards. Luckily he had like 10 of them, and he was making some kind of progress on each attempt. Since his 4th or so attempt, the feed was taken down (or so I believe.)
If this doesn't work, HTC better blow us away with their ICS update. And if that doesn't work, well, I'd be hard pressed on buying another HTC phone.

Why hold that against Htc, they are powerless over carrier discretion (VzW's, in this case). Htc isn't the problem, if they were, HtcDevs wouldn't have released 9 of their newest devices into the wild for devs. to bloom into something, the whole concept of open source dev. can be proud of.

Yeah I know who you were talking about. I'm not going to say his name but he's a big fat liar. He was even releasing fake e-mails from the VZW CEO. His website is a big steaming pile of drama llama. And his forum is mostly just him releasing b.s.. all the time and having conversations with his own alternate screen names.

I understand this, and I'd even be willing to accept it as fact if it weren't for the other fact that they have the Galaxy Nexus. All of their rabble about "security" and everything else means nothing just for the sole fact that they allow unlocking, tethering, and everything else they hate to go on in this phone. Hell, even my OG Droid did this, so why the hell can't my Rezound?
I'm upset at HTC because they could simply "leak" the unlock method and circumvent all of this BS, but they haven't, and probably won't.
