SD 820 Phones in 2016

This is just a thought, but is it a foregone conclusion that SD 820-powered flagship phones in 2016 will feature 4K displays exclusively, or will there still be flagships that feature QHD displays? I ask this because I figure that any benefit that would come with the SD 820 in terms of performance and battery efficiency might be canceled out by the ridiculously high resolution? So in a sense, a phone that might come with a 4,000 mAh and a 4K display might have the same battery life +/- as a SD 810- powered phone with a 3,500 mAh battery and a 2K display? Thoughts?

I am sure we will see a little of both. I am sure some like HTC will stick with QHD, maybe even 1080p. Maybe LG goes with 4k? I could see samsung doing it. I think it would be smart to stick with QHD since there already is little content to take full advantage of it.

The phone can double-up the pixels when it's in power savings mode so that the graphics core won't need to work so hard.

4K's 3840 pixels × 2160 lines becomes 192 pixels × 1080 lines when one pixel generated by the graphics core is sent to four pixels on the display.

I'd rather have qhd and good battery life. 4k is useless without content. And since android apps scale you wouldn't notice the difference anyway.

I'd rather have qhd and good battery life. 4k is useless without content. And since android apps scale you wouldn't notice the difference anyway.

Exactly. Go another year at QHD because battery has been improving and will only continue to improve. That plus a large battery will make for some great phones in 2016.

So even though a human eye cannot see 4k, let alone HD, is it just a company marketing to consumers to make money because consumers are not informed? The human eye is limited to 324-326 ppi. For example, most people read at a distance of one foot and at that distance a human eye cannot see a pixel density above 324-326 ppi. View a TV at a greater distance and less pixels are needed.

Color resolution and 3D are something your eye can see, so that might be worth something, the rest is as a waste of time and money.

he mentioned VR because right now , you can easily see pixels, with the s6 and note5, higher res will make pixels less noticeable in VR.
