    Gotta agree. I went from an EVO to a Nexus S, and the size and shape of this phone is so much better. I don't miss the brick at all.

    After using the Infuse (4.5") for a few months I sure can't go back to the smaller screen. After a week or two of jokes about a "etch a sketch" you get used to the great display and thinness of the device and appreciate the size of pictures, screens, etc.

    I made that change as well, and love the phone size (although my aging eyes do miss that slight screen size difference). I'm really hoping that the next phones will have, as rumored, no buttons and thus have a larger screen without a larger body.

    Me too. The Nexus is just so much better than the EVO in every way though. This phone is the perfect size

    My first time on this site. I'm thinking of going from iPhone to Samsung infuse. I'm a designer and crave a larger screen. Is it true android phones are getting bigger.?Will anyone best the 4.5" screen any time soon? I don't want to buy it tomorrow and see another mfr sell a 5" screen next week!

    I think a 4.3-4.5" screen is pretty much the upper bounds of the phone form factor.

    There's been a few of attempts to go higher:
    * Dell Streak 5
    * Samsung Note

    .. but those are all mini-tablets. And if that's what you want, then sure.. but they are awful hard to carry in a pocket or keep a straight face while holding up to your ear..

    I just bought my first reading glasses last night. Ugh I didn't notice the difference in res between my OG Droid 3.7 screen and my Thunderbolt 4.3 screen 'cause of my poor vision. They're the same res but bigger is better.

    So I'm anticipating 5.0 screens this Christmas season. Hopefully.

    Since I started this thread, I feel compelled to admit that I now have a 4.65" inch screen on my phone. Do I think its too big? Yes, I still do, but I had to have ICS, I had to have stock android, I had to have Super AMOLED with high pixel density, and I had to have it now, but to be clear, I bought the Galaxy Nexus in spite of its giant screen, not because of it. I'll learn to get used to it.

    Within a week you will never be able to go back to a little screen.

    Not necessarily true. I went from an EVO to a NS4G and prefer the form of the smaller phone. Not because of the screen, but the body.

    You are one of the 9% Who Want a Small Screen.

    Just like gloves, Android's come in small, medium and large. Get the size that fits your hands.

    Several days with the GN, I still feel that way. It's slightly awkward; on the other hand, as long as the chassis is this size, I wish the screen were even bigger, as close to the edges as possible.

    I have rather big hands so these large screens might be in my favor. Have to try them out in person to make sure I like them. My last touchscreen device was 3.5". Now while I liked the size of the device to easily fit in my pocket I didn't much care to type on it. But, if you don't like big than the Galaxy Note is far out of the question.

    Disagree. My next phone device has to be at least 4.65. I hardly make calls on the thing and when I do i use a headset. It's mostly for watching netflix/youtube, streaming audio, gaming and web browsing.

    As you see, it was more because of the chassis than the screen. I would love a huge screen, but if the tradeoff is to have a brick bigger than an EVO with sharp corners, I'll probably pass.

    Polls, for the most part, mean nothing. I didn't even look at it, but you need to take iinto account where its from. Of course most tech geeks want a huge screen. Unfortunately, they only account for -1% of the customer base. But, I believe in this case the poll shows somewhat accurate but exaggerated. Many do want a huge screen. Many also see the size oof some of these phones and say they're way too big.

    I think the Incredible 2 is the perfect phone as far as size. If they got rid of the capacitive buttons at the bottom and put some ICS on it, they could stretch the screen to be ~4.3 with the perfect size body. Pair that up with the next gen dual core Snap Dragon, that would be my ideal phone.

    I want a giant screen in a small phone. My ideal is a gadget made of silly putty. Stretch it out to a nice roomy screen when you are using it, and tuck it back into a little ball to slip in your pocket when you are done. Maybe something in-between for stuf like phone calls, where you are using the gadget but not the screen or the keyboard.

    I have the 4" Photon, and I like the screen size, but the form factor is a little too large for my tastes.

    Talking Re: Anybody else have zero interest in an iphone

    I thought it would be nice to have a screen that goes edge to edge of the device, no bezel. Some say that they put bezels on, to not accidently tap or touch something while holding the phone. if the edges of the screen were not touch sensitive, yet still capable of images, that could avoid accidental touches or taps. This would give us a bigger screen without the extra bulk in size. Look at your current device and measure how much bigger the screen would be if it went edge to edge (bezeless). I'm not sure if the technology is there yet to make a screen only partially touch sensitive, but looking at the iPhone, we have seen what glass covering the whole front of the device looks like.

    I do believe that it's very possible that edge to edge screens will have an ability like false bezels along the same line as the capacitative buttons on the GN. If they can do that in ICS. It's likely gonna pop up in jellybean. Whenever that OS sees daylight.

    I am right there with you on not wanting or needing a mini tablet in my pocket. I currently have a DInc and have found nothing to take me away.

    If all the brands are set on making phones 4.5 & higher then I may be forced to switch to the evil Iphone. I just don't like huge thin phones.

    I'd rather have 4" screen and thick with a big battery so I can use my device without charging every 5 hours and being able to put it in my pocket.

    I can only hope we see a Droid Incredible 3 with a 4" screen and a nice size battery. That would be the sweet spot for me.

    After reading this entire thread and grinning and chuckling along the way, it made me consider one of the reasons why I love my aging obsolete almost 2yr old LG Ally. When it was first revealed, several reviewers mentioned how *hefty* it was. I had to point out to them that if they felt this phone was *hefty* they needed to exercise more and maybe visit their DR. for their frail young bodies.

    The Ally is a slider with one of the best physical QWERTY designs I have ever used or seen on a phone. The screen is amazingly detailed and bright though admittedly, I considered the phone huge since I came from Samsung's Alias SCH-U740 whose keyboard design was fine so long as you grew your thumbnails and kept them strong. The form factor, however, made it discreet and comfortable in my pockets.

    The Ally is chunkier than most but the comfort level in txting is superior to bar phones with 4.3 screens. It is also made of hardy solid material that doesn't feel like you might crack it if you sneeze too hard while holding it. The phone also allows for pinch zoom so no text is *fixed* and tho you might need to move the pages around a little, you won't go blind. My biggest complaint is the unnecessary branding by both Verizon and LG that flank the impressive screen hence wasting precious visual real estate in addition to 2 soft keys and a physical bezel. If the actual screen started where the earpiece section ends and ended where the physical bezel began, it would have been a nearly respectable 4" screen. The rest of the phone, though a little fatter than most prefer, is ideal to hold for txting, looks normal for actual calls, and perfect for viewing movies (which I do all the time) - now if only they could make a phone like this with more than 16GB internal and a microSD of up to 32GB I'd buy it in a second!

    My husband has the GZ'One Commando which is perfect for him since he works in a machine shop and he has learned to love the Android OS over his previous WebOS palmpre and his hands are huge so the width of the phone fits well. I find it just a tad too wide in my hands tho. My sister went from a BB to a Samsung Fascinate and though she loves the larger and wider screen, she now shops for purses with her phone in mind since it is just too inconvenient for her to put in her pockets. She dropped it once and has a slightly cracked screen. I have dropped my Ally over all sorts of floors many many times, and you would never know it.

    Not sure why anyone is downing a 4.5 inch screen your only about .2 inches from a 4.3, .5 from a 4 inch. Measured diagonally there isn't much difference in screen size. The Galaxy SII LTE from Rogers with 4.5 inch display is actually a very good size, minimal bezel and the size of the phone isn't that much more than the captivate or previous 4 inch phones. I find that my hands hold the phone quite well and typing on the portrait keyboard is quite comfortable, at 4 inches it was easy to hit the wrong keys if your fingers are large. Unless you have tiny fingers or a stylus then anything around the 4 inch would be a good size. At 4.5 I find it a perfect balance though web pages are quite comfortable to read at a good distance from your face, no need to squint for those tiny letters.

    I don't think anyone is saying they don't like the bigger screen size, bit the bigger chassis that comes along with it. The GN, for example, is huge.
