droid with non slider keyboard?
there is no way I am ever going to be able to use a touch screen keyboard as well or even close to as well as a standard keyboard. the droid pro is nothing much and a slider keyboard is both hard to type on(the top keys are difficult to get at some time) and also is just too juvenile in appearance for someone my age.
does anyone have any information or maybe even any speculation as to whether a phone like I described above will ever come to verizon? are touch screen phones going to now monopolize the market with the only physical keyboard alternatives being sliders and blackberrys? thanks alot. - 12-03-2011, 03:21 AM #2

Re: droid with non slider keyboard?
i heard bbx, the new berry os, will run android apps. might be worth a look at when it comes out sometime early next year, especially on that device that has touch screen and a keyboard, not the bolt the other one. berry keyboard is amazing but the os is just so old, leaves so much to be desired.
running android apps means i can run some of the excellent apps that are out there for android but im sure the web is still going to be a disaster. - 12-03-2011, 11:00 PM #4

What do you have against the Pro? It offers all you seek even if it is a bit older now. Rooting opens up a lot of functionality Motorola locked down. YMMV,

Re: droid with non slider keyboard?
I use the keyboard on the Sprint Xprt... which is like the Droid Pro. That has to be the best keyboard option that isnt a slider.
Im not sure what else you are looking for. I went from Blackberry 7220,7520, 8700c, 8320 to the Droid Xprt... and while I'll admit the Blackberry 8320 had the best keyboard spacing and lightness of the bunch I've owned.. The droid xprt/pro does a great job at being a physical typer that I can still walk and not look down at my keyboard at times.
Do you want a fold out keyboard or something or a virtual keyboard? just trying to envision what you are truly looking for. - 12-04-2011, 02:51 PM #7

Re: droid with non slider keyboard?
I'm definitely spoiled by the big screen of my fascinate, but my sausage fingers never got used to on-screen keyboards.
I would probably pay $500 for a 4G Android phone that had a BB Torch / Dell Venue Pro form factor (slide down keyboard)
I would think the Torch sales are strong enough to make an Android manufacturer give it a shot. For the life of me I can't figure out why nobody has tried to put one of these out, yet keep trying to jam the other form factors down our throat?
