Verizon's 4G LTE will launch some time in December yes. But this is for Mobile Broadband and will only be available in 38 cities nation wide and 60 airports. I can't remember where to look to find which cities and airports its going to be.
Verizon won't see a 4G LTE device till Q1 2011 (most likely this is all rumor and is subject to change at Verizon's discretion, so anythings possible). So if you're waiting for the HTC Incredible HD/Mecha, you probably won't see it till Feburary 2011.
The HTC Incredible HD/Mecha is supposed to debut at CES in January 2011 though (which is also just rumored). - 11-22-2010, 10:08 PM #77

I'm holding out on my upgrade for an LTE device, as well. Hopefully it will be the Droid Incredible HD. By then I will be over a month out of contract, which could mean a bigger discount. One can dream there.

This is just a hunch but piecing together the info that is out, here is what i got on this. Verizon just released their first 4G LTE commercial this past sunday 11-21-10 during sunday night football. At the end of the spot it said coming december 2010. The HTC device ( Incredible HD? ) I am going to say that name is going to stick since verizon loves to piggy back off the success of previous devices. Now the reason why i brought up the commercial for 4G was because there was a rumor that they brought the device back in and made it a 4G device and there are screen shots of it running 4G. So i am going with a right before the holiday launch of verizon's first flagship 4G LTE smartphone.

I can tell you that in Cincinnati - some - if not most of the towers are already lit up with 4G - I attended a 4G event last week and they were using the actual commercial towers and showing off the upcoming 4G pc modems - very fast. Speeds were consitent at 12mbs down and 5 up - it would peak at 20 down and 10 up. There were about 20 laptops running various demos and about 5 that were available for general surfing. Even with all 20 running, each was consistent with the 12 down. Very cool and very promising - as long as they can balance the load. We have 2 modems on order and our rep is saying we should have them next week. I believe it when I see it, but from what I saw - its ready!
