I have seen all over the internet that the GG from 2013 is Water Resistant. Is this true?

    Cheers

Water resistant yes, waterproof no. Also, ugly, yes First two are facts, last one is just to me and is only as true as nothing is true.

    Also, welcome to the forums!

Cheers. I couldn't find anything about water resistance on Samsung's website.
I'm enjoying this forum so far.

If that's a selling point, I believe that both the Pebble and the Sony wearables are waterproof.

The current Galaxy Gear is IP 55 rated. Here is a PDF of the ratings scale.

The first number is the level of proection against contact and ingress of foreign bodies. A 5 is "Complete protection against contact with live or moving parts inside the enclosure. Protection against harmful deposits of dust. The ingress of dust is not totally prevented, but cannot enter in an amount sufficient to interfere with satisfactory operation of the machine."

The second number is the protection against water. A 5 is "Water projected by a nozzle against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effect."

Yes you read that right, water projected from a nozzle (like a garden hose) from any direction will not harm the watch. Can you take it diving? No. But doing the dishes while wearing it, or washing the car shouldn't give cause for concern.
