New to the galaxy note 10.1. Cannot get the polaris to open the excel spread sheet with the formatted cells working. Any idea if it can happen?

Have you updated to KitKat ? If so, you can click on the Samsung Apps icon, and download Hancom Office from the store. It's free and is a very close clone of Microsoft Office. You will have to download all 6 related apps. Should definitely work better than Polaris :)

Polaris is not good to open EXCEL files, Quickoffice freezes, but Kingsoft Office is the best and does a pretty good job, keeps all the formatted cells and is quick too. Give it a try and you won't regret a single bit.

+1 on Kingsoft. Created an XL file with dropdown boxes, polaris had not clue. Switched to KS, they did their version of a dropdown box but it listed all necessary entries.

I agree... Kingsoft opened an excel file that others couldn't
