I took a punt and lost ... knew about magnetic closure cases causing issues with spen but fell for this awesome looking case from icarer (ICARER) because some people on forums said that their magnetic cases dont cause any issues with their spens.
Genuine Slim Leather Case Cover FOR Samsung SM P605 4G LTE Galaxy Note 10 1 2014 | eBay

I received the case 4 days ago. It looks and feels just sublime. Very smooth and well made. EXCEPT for the slight issue with the most important user function within the tab. SPEN. MAGNETIC CASES DO NOT WORK - Proven. See the photos. I will soon post a video about it. But the photos speak for themselves. The distortions happen on the opposite side of the magnet. This can be seen from the photos showing the Note 10.1 within the case in 180 degrees turned condition. The photo without the case shows there is no distortion. And the distortions go away immediately. Thoug I did notice some distortions remain in the very corners of the screen. BEWARE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

EDIT: After a bit more looking at the Icarer case I found 4 more magnets embedded within the back and the flap. Mainly (contrary to what I thought before) the two magnets as shown in the case photo are causing the distortion on the screen and the magnet that keeps the flap closed is NOT causing this. The two magnets in the back of the case combined with two magnets in the flap work together to keep the triangle intact to keep the case in the vertical orientation as shown in one of the photos.

If its one onlyand itis near the flap edge then it shouldnt matter as that magnet is not causing any issues in mine. The magnets in the back are causing issue

So I fixed my issue .... a bit barbaric solution but it was the only way without having to return the case. I am not going to see that portion of the case ever anyway....Two magnets removed from the back of the cover.Solved-1.jpgSolved-2 (Removed magnets.jpg

I had the same problem too with my previous generic case, I changed to a different one now. I was a heavy SPen user that time so it bothered me a lot.
