For some reason I'm unable to turn the app off to prevent notification of updates. I've uninstalled all updates for the app but I can't go the next step and disable the app. I don't want it to show in my updates list in the Play Store anymore!

The best you could probably do is force stop it from the app info then take all the APKfiles and either shun them, move it to the external SD card from the stock files app, or try to delete it to oblivion. You could also find a app that would block it from the notification panel.

Sorry that I couldn't be more helpful but when you are not rooted those are really the only options. Now if you were to root it I could tell you how to root your tablet, and how to un-install Evernote (for real) thus removing it from the play store update list!

Except I don't want ALL my notifications turned off, and this doesn't help the situation with Evernote still appearing in my list of available updates in the Play Store. I never installed the app and I thought that most/all "standard" apps, especially ones that are add-ons by the manufacturer, should be able to be "turned off" once all updates were uninstalled.

I have no use for Evernote, I use Google Keep for anything like that, Evernote would just be one more unnecessary place my data would be collected.

If you have not created an Evernote account your data will not be shared to Evernote. Without rooting the best options is to turn off Playstore Auto update. But it won't get rid of the notification I have 6 apps sitting and begging to be updated whenever I get an update notification(Evernote being one of them) that I ignore until I root the Note

That is basically what I said

As I said the only options for uninstalling Evernote is via rooting.

I don't really care if I actually uninstall it, I'd like to just disable the app like can be done with almost every other factory-installed app that I didn't care for or need.

Not every factory app has that option. If you root it you could also freeze the app.

I have the same problem. What annoys me the most is that this is even on the phone to start with. Who ever decided to put it on there is an *****.

Now that we have the Lollipop update, Evernote and Flipboard (the 2 I was REALLY complaining about) can now be disabled using application manager like on every other Android device with pre-installed bloatware.

Try package disabler pro. App specifically for Samsung devices that lets you disable pre-installed apps permanently.

THANK YOU! It's been driving me crazy that I can't root to uninstall the bloat ware. I installed the pro plus package from the play store and I was able to clean up my phone finally. I'm old school so I don't like being force fed apps that come pre installed.

Cheers!

That is why I call evernote malware. I have teied to like it but everything about it, right down to that gross algea green, annoying. In fact it is in ita own socialist catagory called forceware. An app should not have to resort to force to get customers. Every Samsu g device has this thing set to where you cannot uninstall it without ripping it out.

You would think these $1000.00 phones would respect the customer's desire to rid themselves of the green monster. It is the most hated app on the market for that reason.
