Screen mirroring - audio but no picture

I'm trying to mirror a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition tablet, stock Android OS 4.4.2, to a Sceptre U500 TV via a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter. As the title says I can hear the tablet's audio but no images are displayed. The result is the same with any apps I've tried - Netflix, Youtube, games, etc. Any suggestions?
