II have been accused in the past of sounding like a walking commercial for Samsung, and I guess if you read through my post some of them may take on that tone. However, I will address issues when I believe it's warranted.

Please forgive me here because this is one of those commercial sounding post. :)

I discovered two incredible features today, and in my opinion they make this tablet worth every bit of it's $500 price tag.

The first one in Wi-fi direct: I know this feature is not exclusive to the Note and can be found on many devices, but when used on the Note it is simply amazing. I own both the Note 5.3 and 10.1 and I was thinking how can I take notes in a meeting using the 10.1 and then transfer them to the phone device or vice versa. On another thread someone talked about wifi direct and I tried it today and I was simply blown away with how easy it was use.

Since my office does not have an active wifi in the building this feature makes transferring notes between the two devices so easy without an internet connection.

So today I sit around the conference room table and take a bunch of notes using the 10.1 (which is a wifi only device). Before leaving the meeting I transfer my handwritten notes to my 5.3 using wifi direct and it happens within seconds. I go to lunch with my boss, and so I leave my 10.1 at the office since it's too big to be portable. Over lunch I could refer back to my notes from the meeting, and even edit and add to them (as she gave me more work) right on my 5.3.

She was amazed and is now considering purchasing a Note 10.1 herself. But without the corresponding S-Note app on her phone I'm not sure her experience will be quite the same.

The second feature is S-Note: I know this sounds like a given, but in all the reviews I've seen they all seem to skip what I think makes the Note 10.1 and 5.3 truly unique.

I have a friend across country, and tonight I wrote her a three page handwritten note using the S-Note app, and then shared the handwritten note to her right from the app.

Well, since she also has a 10.1 and a 5.3 she will be able to read that note using the same app. In my letter I talked about how having the ability to communicate via a handwritten message adds a closeness and personal touch to the message that typing and email cannot duplicate.

It reminded of the days, before email, that we all actually wrote our messages on pen and paper, and the Note seems to bring just a little bit of that nostalgia back to 2012.

I believe the Note 10.1 and 5.3 are two incredible devices. If you can own them both go for it; they work great together, but if you can only own one you won't go wrong with the Note 10.1. :)

Which one did you get? 16 or 32 GB? Where did you get it? How is the multi-tasking?

I brought the 16gb , best buy and none of the sites in my area didn't have any white or 32gb. Well I have 30 days to exchange so I hope a white one becomes available I want it to match my Samsung S3 phone.

I'm going today to see if Best Buy has the 16GB white. If not, i'll order it from Amazon and get it tomorrow. I want 32GB, but I LOVE the look of the white. And I might add, this is the first piece of tech that I actually prefer the look of the white. Generally I prefer the darker colors.

I got my mine from Best Buy, and they only had the 16gb, in gray. I wanted the white model, but I was quite impressed with how professional looking the gray metallic looks.

Multitasking is incredible IMO. I was watching YouTube videos on one half of the screen while I was handwriting a note to my friend on the other half. Not even remotely possible on any other device. The 10.1 screen real estate takes multitasking to another level.

Right now it's limited to certain apps, but I'm sure over time that will improve. Btw, when I woke up this morning there was a software upgrade (50.1 mb) waiting to download on the 10.1? I'm not sure what changed, but I downloaded it and all is well.

Well I went to best buy today and returned the Samsung galaxy note10.1 dark grey because I didn't like the look of that one and I placed an order for the white one and I asked for express shipping well be here Thursday or Friday by ups or FedEx. And the white one will go great with my White Sexy Samsung galaxy S3 phone.:)

The white ones must be popular. When I checked Best Buy a couple days ago they had the white model in stock. When I went to get mine last night, they only had the gray. I've never had a liking for a white device, but was going to give it a shot with the Note. I didn't want to wait so I just got the gray one.

Well I did get the dark grey one from best buy because that was all they had and i wanted to at least test it out and i fell in love with it. But when I found out that you can only order the white ones online I returned the dark grey one and ordered the white to match my sexy white Samsung galaxy S3 phone.:)

I bought the two year buyback from Best Buy on my Playbook. Hope to get $250 for it. I have $360 in BB gift cards. I hope to order the 32 GB in grey. Then a case until OB releases a Defender case.

Just check bestbuy's website before going to the store. There is a link when viewing the product.

Enter your zip code and it will tell you if there are any in stock at the stores in the vicinity of the zip code. That is how i found my white model. One of the bestbuy stores in my area had 7 of them, so i exchanged the dark grey that i bought with no questions asked.

I do have to say though, that the website said all the best buy's near me had white, but none do.

So, I'm sitting in a meeting today and taking notes on my 10.1. I realize that these people are talking way too fast for my liking.

So what do I do? Within the S-Note app, I turn on the microphone and start recording the meeting while I continue to take my handwritten notes. Besides seeming a bit uncomfortable (since no one knew they were being recorded), I was able to ensure I did not miss anything that was being shared.

Any thoughts on using the recording function without first informing people? Great feature though!

My only thought is that, at least in some states, that (recording a conversation without the other person's knowledge) is illegal. Just so you know.

Yes. I'm aware it's illegal in some states, and that's probably why my conscience was ringing all kinds of warning bells.

I think the feature is great in that setting, so I'll just as if everyone if they mind I record the meeting next time.

I don't think anyone would mind.

I've had some really ugly contract negotiations recently. I think I'm going to bring my Note to any future meetings with the culprits involved and do likewise. Inform them at the beginning of the meeting that I'm taking notes and recording the whole meeting.

In my case, they might mind a lot. But I don't care! :D

I like that plan!!

I'm curious why Samsung didn't include nfc in the note 10.1? I couldn't get wifi direct to work between my note 5.3 and my nexus 7 but nfc did work.

What error did you get when you tried to use wifi direct? Maybe I can help?

I didn't get an error, but any file or photo I tried to send between the two just wouldn't transfer.

I was listening to the AC podcast today and I think Phil & Jerry finally got it (somewhat)!

The Galaxy Note 10.1 is not another Android tablet that happens to have a stylus, but rather it is an electronic pen and note pad, that happens to run Android.

Today I sat around a conference room table and watched everyone taking notes on a conventional 8.5 x 11 paper note pad, and the usual ball point pen. My colleagues were just writing away and when they would get to the end of the sheet they would flip the sheet over, (or turn the page if they had a spiral or composition book), and start taking more notes on a fresh sheet.

When the meeting was over they folded up their notepads and spiral books and left. I got to thinking; when they get back to their office they will have a bunch of notes on one notepad or in one book, which they will now have to sort through and hope they can keep together. The funny part for me was that I used to do the same thing.

However, since I go my Note 5.3 back in Feb., I had ditched all the paper and pen note taking methods, and had begun to embrace the technology of electronic note taking. It was good, I like it a lot, and it really impressed a lot of people.

But let me tell you, taking notes on the 10.1 moves electronic note taking to another level. Unlike my colleagues who will eventually run out of paper or come to the end of their spiral note pad, we who have the Note 10.1 have no such worry.

Also, unlike my colleagues who probably have various notes and such from different meetings and conferences spread out all over the place, and have to worry about losing or misplacing them, I have all mine neatly filed in folders and sub-folders right on the 10.1.

I can also with a few taps on the screen upload the notes to Evernote or Dropbox to ensure my notes are accessible no matter where I happen to be.

The productivity power of the Note 10.1 is amazing. Oh, and did I mention that it's also a full fledged Android tablet :D
