I have heard great things about Handbrake.

I use Aiseesoft Total Media Converter Platinum, that I scored for free at giveawayoftheday.com. This site gives away free software, different each day, and they rotate through some nice video rippers at least monthly, so keep your eye on the site if Handbrake isn't a good solution for you.

I usually recommend uTorrent and isohunt.com. ripping dvds is time consuming and frustrating.

I also use tTorrent to download videos right to my Android device.

I use DVD Catalyst 4 (Home of DVD Catalyst 4). It's not free (there is a free trial though) but it's well supported and allows you to optimize for the device you own, including the GN 10.1. Worth the the $9.95 IMO.

Handbrake is free and does a good job most of the time. I mainly use Wondershare due to its quick rendering and one step process.

    Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - AT&T
Motorola Moto X - unlocked GSM

I've been using DVD Catalyst 4 and it is really simple to use. It is well worth the $9.95.

Another post for DVD Catalyst. I think it's the best. Really well worth the $9.95.

I've been using DVDFAB (DVDFab DVD & Blu-ray Copy, DVD Ripper, Blu-ray Ripper Software. Copy DVD, DVDR, Blu-ray Disc to PSP, or iPad/iPhone/iPod. Copy Blu-ray to BD-R, MKV, or Hard Drive for both Windows and Mac.) for a number of years. Not free, but you can get a free trial. It not only rips for putting movies on your device, but will create backup DVDs if you'd like.
