The solution to this may be very obvious to some, but not for me. I recently selected the handwriting input on my samsung on screen keyboard to try it out again and have found know way of switching it back to a normal on screen eyboard. I mean there was a clear option on the regular keyboard to switch to handwriting recognition, so shouldnt there be the same obvious selection for going back?

Click and hold on the icon that looks like a microphone. You should get a pop up menu that allows you to select the keyboard again.
