Is the 2014 edition worth upgrading? Im thinking it doesnt have enough to warrant an upgrade

The new one has a much better screen- with 3gigs of ram- better camera- better/bigger processor- running Android 4.3 and Bigger battery.
This does warrant a upgrade. If I had the older version I would sell it on Swappa.com and definitely buy the new 2014 version.
Me personally I'm holding out to see what the new Nexus10 will be like. I might still buy the Note 10.1 2014

I use a note 8.0 now. Used to use a 10.1, but the resolution was horrible for reading. If I didn't love the 8.0 so much, I'd spring for the new one. I'd actually like the 8 inch Note in a better resolution, but I'd settle for the new S Pen Software!

I use my Note 8 for handwriting and really like it, except for the lack of seamless PDF export handling. I will be getting the new 10.1 tablet for the larger screen. I had the original 10.1 but didn't care for the build quality. The 2014 model seems exactly what I need with better resolution, Note 8 looks, more RAM, etc ... I also use an iPad Air with an Adonit BT stylus. Really nice but the inking is still not up to the Wacom way. Mind you, integration with PDF is better. I can't imagine going with any other tablet such as a Nexus 10 that didn't have stylus capabilities. The Surface 2 Pro will have its appeal once they get the weight down and battery life up.

you lose much more than you gain. No more Cascade view of aps. IF you have a note 2 You will lose Compatibility of s-notes. S-Notes No longer supports math or shape Conversion,

It really depents what you are using it for.
For me personally, it won't be an upgrade. Since i have the Galaxy Note 2, i use that more and more. So i use the tablet only for web browsing and youtube play.
And occasionally for writing in a diary.

So no need for better screen, worse speakers, faster processor and latest samsung tools.

I just upgraded to the 2014 from the original. I'm not going to refer to any specs; only the user experience.

    - The screen quality is much better. Although the quality for reading and video was fine before, it's much more enjoyable now.
    - S note is much, much, much improved
    - the physical and capacitive buttons are great for landscape but so far, they're annoying in portrait
    - it feels faster
    - I liked the back stroke with the S pen on the original. It's not available (that I can tell) on the 2014 edition.
    - looks better, feels smaller and lighter
    - I prefer the beefier S pen of the original but I don't mind the new thinner pen
    - the micro USB is nice. I always prefer standard over proprietary ports
