It would depend on how much syncing you're doing in the background. Having it asleep will still sync things like emails and facebook notifications (and other things) so it'll be waking up to do that kindof stuff. Some people have more background things like that happening than others.
Might be best to leave it in sleep mode at a full charge and see how much your battery goes down overnight (you can then also go into the battery stats and see how many wakes and stuff you had overnight)
Obviously turning it completely off will result in very little drain.
