Android noob question...moving icons

I have the Contacts icon on my home screen. I really don't need that since I can just go to the Phone icon and select Contacts from there. I'd like to remove the Contacts icon (not just move it to another home page). If I Trash it, will it remove Contacts completely, or just the icon?

Just the icon. Trash it.

If you trash it then it will just get rid of the icon not the program.
