When using my Note I hate having to reach all the way down below the screen to press the physical home button whenever I want to go back to the home screen.
I came across an app called SoftHome that adds a floating icon on your screen. You can move it around to any part of the screen you wish. It also allows you to customize the icon. I replaced the green icon it comes with, to one that is white and transparent. The icon I'm using is small, and doesn't get in the way. I moved mine to the right side of the screen so I can quickly access it with one handed use. It also allows you to long press the icon to access your recent apps, but unfortunately it doesn't work on the Note 2.

If anyone come across any other apps similar to this, please share. It's not easy searching for apps like this in the PlayStore. I just happen to stumble upon this one while looking for another app.

Is the press and hold to access recent apps working on yours?
All of the other features work on mine except that one.

I've had that happen to me a few times with the physical button as well in the past. Have to reboot in order to get it working again. Probably a bug in TouchWiz

Button Savior does this and has support for more soft key buttons. There is a Pro Key available that allows further customization of the buttons.

Thanks! I downloaded it. I noticed that Button Savior asks for a lot security permissions. It disabled Air View and needs USB Debugging to run. Received a security warning if I enabled USB Debugging. I turned Air View back on, because I like using the hover feature with my S-Pen. So far the app is still running without USB Debugging being enabled. It's also running with Air View enabled as well.
I'm now comparing it to Smart Taskbar.

Glad to hear. Many apps, I believe, that ask or notify to disable Air View mean to refer their conflict between Air View and Talkback. If I'm correct, that's because of the way that Air View works on text hover and the fact that Talkback reads aloud focused text. As for the USB Debugging warning, that's great news.

Tested the Button Savior (non root) app, and it took a huge toll on my battery within 2 hours. I went ahead and disabled Air View and USB debugging. I'll see if that makes a difference. If it doesn't, I'll probably go with another app.

I went ahead and enabled USB debugging and disabled Air View. No battery issues after those changes so far. I enabled Air View once again. Going to see how it effects the app.

Decided to uninstall Button Savor Non Root. It disabled the Swype feature in the Samsung Keyboard. After I uninstalled it, the Swipe feature for the Samsung Keyboard started work again. This app has a nice concept, but it was causing too many issues for me.
