I found a thread on another website it's not a pretty picture. People have replaced phones reset them redone their Google accounts to no avail

Re: S Voice commands won't place appointments in calendar.
I believe I am the person on that other thread to which you refer.
After replacing 3 devices, and countless hours on the phone with both Sprint and Samsung, a friend on this forum (AnnDroid) helped me find a solution.
The problem is with the Google account associated with your device as the primary. The simple fix is to perform a hard reset and assign a different Google account as the primary, and just add the one you currently use like any other.
You will spend untold hours trying to find a fix otherwise. Now mine works perfectly fine. We never found out what causes the problem, but this recommendation will fix it.

Thanks but I'm not going to do a reset and go through all that. I did a reset recently and it is just a big pain in the ****. If I hadn't been having trouble with battery drain I would have never gone through the pain of resetting the phone. Thx anyway

Re: S Voice commands won't place appointments in calendar.
I understand what's you're saying. Through my ordeal I must have reset my phone at least 7 times.

But for me I wanted the feature to work so bad I would have done anything. The funny thing is that the final solution we discovered would have only required one reset, no replacement phones, and no time wasted on the phone with Sprint and Samsung. I just wish it would have not taken so long to discover; and even better if it had worked out of the box.
However, now it works great and I use it often.

I hear you, but for me, the feature isn't worth the trouble of another reset. glad you got yours working for you.
