I received an OTA update for my Note 2, today. Have not installed it yet, as I am Rooted, and am waiting to see how to keep Root.

Note: I am in the U.S.A. on Verizon.

I got the OTA last week in India. The size was about 450 odd mbs. No major changes, I found. Appearance is exactly the same as on 4.3. I'm kinda confused coz i read on this forum that kitkat update was about 1.3 gigs in UK i think. Wonder whats happening?

My coworker installed the update, and it did take away his root privileges. I'm holding off. Supposedly, all this update offers is roaming in Canada?! No thanks.

Does anyone know how to disable the notifications and prevent the update?

Exactly.

No, not without root.

Yes that 450 mb update is kitkat. I am from india having unlocked unrooted note 2. Update has rolled out. So I am asking if there's any visible change except smoothness improvement.

New camera widget on homescreen
White icons in status bar at top of screen
Album art is full screen on lockscreen when playing music
Emoji in keyboard
Cloud Print app

I'm not sure what else. There was no Kitkat dialer w/the "Smart" caller ID
I have the i317 (AT&T) version and we just got a rooted Touchwiz Kitkat ROM over the weekend.

I wish they had gone with the s4 and note 8 and put in reading mode. It's software based so shouldn't have been to difficult. Hopefully next time.

New icons, but not those seen in s5. Sadly the app hide option is gone.
After hard reset the performance is superb.
The multi window feature is now on by default in two supported apps instead of dragging.
Camera seems faster
File management is different thanks to kitkat.
Camera seems quicker

:) So...does the camera seem speedier? Or to ask it another way: does the camera seem snappier?
