I just got the updated chromecast app which allows for screen mirroring. Only problem is...IT DOESN'T WORK WITH THE NOTE 2. There went my short-lived excitement. Sheesh!

In this article, it's mentioned that it's still in beta, and that the only supported devices so far are the following:

  • Samsung Galaxy S4
  • Samsung Galaxy S5
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 10
  • HTC One M7
  • LG G3
  • LG G2
  • LG G Pro 2

But I'd just advise patience--as with most Google apps and features, they usually expand compatibility over time.

EVERYTHING in Google is usually "Beta". :) Some things are in beta with them for years.

Because I couldn't mirror from my phone, I tried chromecasting from my PC and Chrome browser. That was awful. Many dropped frames and frame rate looked like it was under 10 FPS. When I chromecast Netflix from my phone, it's awesomely good. sigh. Maybe it's the distance from my PC to the chromecast dongle?

Hardware on the PC is a big factor. My PC processor isn't good enough for casting.
