Friends's S2 trying to deliver an MMS message when phone is set not to receive them?

Hi There I sent a message from my Galaxy note 2. The message contained a smiley from the newly installed "Emoticons", the Note sends these it changes the message to an MMS. My friends phone doesn't accept pictures. But rather than just failing and giving up it keeps trying to deliver the message. At least once a day! Anyone heard of this and if so do you know what he or I can do to stop this message?
