How do I remove unwanted battery draining apps that I don't need on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2?

I have a factory stock Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with Verizon and it is consuming battery power about 5 times faster than it use to. Wifi, GPS are off. This seemed to occur about early to mid 2015. I called Verizon and they said they have had no reports of such.

How do I remove unwanted battery draining apps that I don't need on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2? Apps that I either installed and don't need or use or that were on the phone when I purchased it from Verizon?

How do I know which apps are necessary for the phone and internet and which ones are just taking up space and draining my battery?

Welcome to Android Central! First, let's see if we can help figure out why your battery is draining faster. The Note 2 is fairly old--is the battery the original? Batteries don't last forever, and after about 2 years of typical usage, they can start to deteriorate noticeably. Try a new battery.

I vote for a bad battery too... unless of course your usage also increased 5 times.
