note 2 LTE advice please

hi guys I still have my old faithfull note 2 LTE on EE (uk) running Android 4.4.2 KitKat and I really love my phone

I have been trying to use kodi to stream movies to a chrome cast but having problems then someone says kodi needs jellybean to work correctly
not knowing a lot about mobile phone OS at all can anyone tell me how I go about upgrading to jellybean and the advantages of doing so

and if anyone does use Kodi can you tell me how to cast from kodi to my chrome cast please

KitKat is more recent than Jellybean, so you wouldn't be upgrading to Jellybean.

oh right I just been reading how to Update Galaxy Note 2 LTE (GT-N7105) to Official Android 5.1.1 CM12.1 ROM – How To the post was recent so thought this was the latest os for this phone
not sure what it all means to be honest so was on here to try and find out
