UJ95X would he not just need say the SM-N9005 obviously that's not his variant but does it have to be specifically Verizon even I am unsure things work differently with the international variant, us variant and carrier models was one that I was unsure of.

I don't see SM-N900V listed under the supported devices, does it not work for Verizon?

My KNOX didn't get tripped when I used the method here:

But I don't think that this worked for the op.

He was asking if flashing custom ROMs trips the Knox counter, and it does. Same for custom recoveries.

It has to be for the SM-900V or you could potentially brick the phone.

^I'll look into it. I see it erases everything on my phone though, I can I backup everything before I go about doing that? I know I can transfer photos to my computer, but I'm not sure about anything else.

The only thread I can find in the Verizon Note 3 forum on XDA on how to root says to use Kingo. I can't use CF Auto Root because my device isn't supported, any other options?

Rooting shouldn't erase anything, it's when you get into flashing roms that you need to factory reset, wipe cache etc

But that was what we were on about duh as well as rooting so kind of ok lol its late or early depending on how you perceive it lol 01:35 in Scotland

Photos/videos, music, and contacts can all be transferred to your PC.
You can use Helium backup to backup app data. That includes game saves and SMS if you need it

I know. I flashed TWRP and I'm currently on Beans (and formerly on Hyperdrive) and my Knox counter didn't trip. I can't vouch for non - TW based ROMS though.

Hmm, I don't have Knox, but there is still a flash counter. Mine is insanely high lol

I was under the impression that yes there were ways around rooting and not tripping knox, but as soon as you flashed a recovery that was it knox tripped and warranty voided. Please inform the process you went through to obtain this amazing feat. Not that I'm disbelieving you its just from everything I have read but mind you I read specifically for the SM-N9005 and I know that it can't be done on this.

Here is root de la vega but not sure about it as I haven't used it.

I used the TWRP version for Verizon on the website. That, of course, is different than your Note 3 edition. It was noted in this method that Knox was verified not to be tripped, and I can verify that it wasn't tripped in my device either. My counter is 0x0. I wasn't concerned about it tripping but I was certainly glad that it didn't trip. All the better.

I'm on Sprint but I think you are the first person I've ever seen that flashed a custom recovery without tripping Knox. I assume you're on 4.3 Jelly Bean. Has anyone else had success keeping Knox at 0x0 with this method?

As I said teleburst I wasn't disbelieving you its just from what I have read thought it couldn't be done. I did also mention that it's variant dependant and in that I have only read in regards to the SM-N9005.

Well done though dude, but I would imagine if you sent it in for repair and it has a custom rom that would be void anyway regardless of the counter being 0x0.

I believe there's an app called triangle away that removes the counter it's worth looking into...

Addressing a couple of points, it's been stated on that link and on other sites that this method doesn't trip Knox, and I've seen at least two other photos that shows this. It's certainly variant dependent. It could very well be ROM dependent as well in terms of AOSP vs TouchWiz based. As you can see, the Samsung binary is still present. I haven't checked out whether it matters because I've stuck with TW (I like being able to keep the stylus functional). If I ever decide to experiment, I'll find out if AOSP ROMs break Knox and, if they do, I'll decide then.

As for returning to service, there's no problem unrooting and returning to stock.

Yes, I'm on Jelly Bean. In fact, I'm on the Beans ROM right now. I haven't sideloaded Kit Kat. In fact, until I'm sure that FoxFi is functional in Kit Kat (that's very much an open question at this point), I won't be upgrading.

Once Knox is tripped, I think that there's no way to reset it. At this point, that is. That's why there's a multi-thousand dollar bounty (and growing) for anyone who finds a way to do it.
