Default Note 3: S note help please!

I want to use the S note checklist as a grocery list. When I save my left I can't seem to find how to check of an item. Please advise.

Have you tried the black pencil edit icon that comes on briefly upper right. It will come back if you touch. I have not used it much yet. You may mean something else. You need to save the original with the tick. The large widget makes it quicker to access. I will start to use it more now I replaced a nib that was off line.

The pen icon is to edit the note. I need to know how to tick/check the box.

I actually thought using edit was the only way to check off the boxes. Which is a pain. I'd love it if there is an easier way!

Open Action Memo. Start writing your items. When you get to the bottom of the page tap the lasso. This brings up link to action. Select task....the last option to the right. The items you wrote should now be in the form of a check list.

I seem to have it working ok. Are you using the S-Pen. Probably something simple. I tick the box with a handwritten tick. I was able to untick once by holding the tick box, otherwise I can use the eraser in the top row.
To post a screenshot you need either the Tapatalk app or the Tapatalk based AC Forums app, not the AC app, which I normally use.

Sort of off-topic but have you tried just using Our Groceries? That one is so easy/simple/lightweight it's practically amazing.

    @ehosey2
That's a handy alternative. In fact better for me.
I think the OP wanted to use the Check List template in S-Note, but I don't know why it's not 'ticking' for them.

Actually I got it now. Hold the pen on the box and a blue border and three options appear. Phew!

You are welcome. I wasn't getting it myself, so I learned something. (Handwrite a tick in the box - indeed!)

Do you have to have some setting enabled to have this work? When I hold my pen over my checklist boxes and I get nada! I tried clicking on the box, hovering over etc and I don't get that blue outline and option you show. My only choice is to tick the boxed myself.

If I switch to text input I get a blue box to write my items in but not one for the little box on the side.

Just wondered if I have something set differently :-)

    Cheers!

    Sarks.

Google keep is a wonderful app. Much easier to use than S-note.

Don't know if there's a setting I'm missing. You have to keep mild pressure on the box with the page open. Maybe hold vertical /90 degrees. My nib moves back in a little.

You found the writing window. It and the tickboxes can be moved around, +window enlarged etc.

Try it again? Maybe a hammer on top

    Lots of good tips here.

That said, what difference is there between a handwritten tick and the three options method?

The goal is to check stuff off on the list. Does the handwritten method produce a less desirable or functional check mark?

Sometimes with my scribbling (or vice versa, my fiancÚ's) it's hard to tell what is a ticked box or what is a score through (didn't get/didn't find) so having the other option would be handy. I cannot seem to find it on my phone! (Even with Madd's instructions/help - thank you btw :-) ).

I think there was an update to S-Note version 3.1.0, like mine.
I have since updated to KitKat.

Press vertically on the box and hold for over a second. It must be there. I'm stumped.

I don't use it so why an electronic check is better than a tick? Maybe it transfers better. Otherwise it's just a notepad.

Maybe KitKat is the answer - I'm still on JB. Either that or I'm just a **** hahaha

    Oh well!

    My definitive answer : dunno.
But - I imagine it saves and transfers better. and you can clear the box or remove completely. Also swap to text mode. Does it save to computer. I could find a use for that.

Well I too have tried til I'm blue in the face and can NOT get the blue box to come up either (JB). Gotta be a KK thing right? I do realize that there are other apps out there but it's become my mission now. I like finding useful things to do with the built-in apps. Fact is, I also have OneNote on my Note 3 and that does check box lists beautifully. I just hate when I can't figure something out. Grrrr (ok, maybe I'm a little obsessed here)

Did you ever get this working for you?
Two members above cannot make it work on 4.3. I updated to KitKat 10 days ago.
If it works for you, are you on KK. Thanks.

Same question please. Did the blue option box work for you? Are you on KitKat? Thanks.

Like I said it's not that it's any better or worse to check the box or have the option to check it using the app - but when you have messy handwriting (ie both my husband and I) sometimes I don't know if he's put a check next to something or a score through and vice versa.

I would be interested to find out if it is a KK vs JB difference. Just like Connie above I've tried everything I can and I don't get the option Madd gets.

Still blows my mind after 7 months with this phone how many hidden little features I've still to discover about it :-)

Thanks for playing detective for us, Madd! :-)

    Sarks.
