Exclamation Verizon Note 3 Screen peeling? Images inside.

Hi all. Love the forums. Have an issue that started last week and is getting worse and wanted to see if anyone has had a similar/same issue, knew of the issue, and if so how you resolved it with your carrier.

The top of the screen is peeling. The glass is NOT cracked, chipped, nor has it been dropped. I have a case and screen protector on it and neither of them are causing this. Took it to my local Verizon store and they confirmed it wasn't from being dropped or getting wet. The blemish started as a small spot near the front speaker and over the past 4 days has spread all across the top and now along the left side.
    Here's a wide view.

With flash and you can see the 'peeling' or even 'dent' or 'wrinkle' in the material beneath the screen. Again, this is NOT an illusion caused by the screen protector, and the case is off for these photos.

Well if Verizon confirmed it was not caused from misuse, wet, dropped, are they replacing it then?

They said they could send it in but if they say it's not the device that faulty, then they'd just bill me 300 or 400 bucks. Otherwise, my insurance is $100 so I'm just checking to see if anyone else has had this before I call tech support and try to get them to confirm the device issue... I figure the more info I have the more ammo I can use on the tech guys.

Just call the 800 number and tell them it was confirmed by their employees that it was not abuse that caused it. They will send you a replacement device, period.

The stores will lie to you and look you in the eye while doing it. I would never trust a store employee. Call the 800 number and talk to them, send them pictures if you can. You might find it easier to just pay the insurance deductible then dealing with Verizon. One thing to remember, if you send it in and Verizon decides it is abuse, good luck at getting the phone back while they charge your account. Don't know it they still do that, but they used to, so ask questions, remember the rep you talk to won't be the one inspecting the phone. Good luck.

Thumbs up Re: Verizon Note 3 Screen peeling? Images inside.

    Hi there!

I am in Australia and my phone looks exactly like yours! I'm going to try to send it out for a warranty repair but will see what my telco company (Telstra) will say.

Have you noticed the 'peeling' just keeps getting worse?

Hope you find a solution or replacement.

I sent mine back and was given a replacement phone, a refurbished Note 3.
They determined it was a device issue and I was not charged. Good luck, lochess.

Hi. Just curious if you were happy with the condition of the refurbished phone. Seems they will give a refurb unit even if the phone is a couple of weeks old and it was a manufacturing fault, which doesn't seem fair.
    I'm not with Verizon myself.

Yea, I wasn't exactly thrilled they were sending me a refurb for a 2 month old phone but there was nothing I could do. In fact, the refurb I was sent had an issue with the screen sensitivity issue and I had to send THAT phone back for another refurb, which has been excellent. I did have an issue getting my second refurb b/c they hadn't cleared my original phone issue in the system and so I had to wait about 10 more minutes for that BS to get cleared up.

Sounds like a thrill a minute ride.

I wouldn't want someone else's used phone if I just agreed to pay full bucks for a shiny new one. Carriers don't seem to have a phone age cut off point for new replacements.
I bought ex Amazon UK 10 months ago and like to think they would have replaced with a new one, but now not so sure.

Glad the 2nd one finally is more to your liking anyhow.

    Thanks for the response.

Wow. That is definitely weird. I wonder, is the humidity constantly very high where you are? High enough that it might defeat the glue or whatever voodoo they use to bond the glass? About the refurb...that can stink but refurb CAN be a blessing as it OFTEN means a phone that has been thoroughly checked (and cleared) for faults. As long as it looks and functions like it was in manufacturer-sealed-new condition I'd be fine with a refurb.
    Live long and prosper.
