I have that setting enabled. The shot above is what happens when I click on a link in an email. The shot below is how it used to show up before my kitkat upgrade. If I press and hold the back key, the blue dot with options shows up.

S-Note version 3.1 that came with KitKat has a lot of new touch and hold options in template tick boxes. I suspect this is an upgraded version of MW then. Thanks.
If I hadn't flunked out of Galaxy School, I would have graduated from KitKat University by now.

I'm running 4.4.2 and the blue dot shows up for me automatically without pressing the back button. Maybe try clearing your cache. Maybe one of the guys with a Verizon phone can verify how it works on theirs.

App developers can write their apps to use multiwindow. I have over 50 apps in there. Samsung has opened it to any app that wants to use it. It's up to the devs.

Can we create a list of apps that support MW.
I assume, like the few I have, they will automatically appear in the MW edit list.
We could omit localised banks, stores and services.
Why does Amazon and eBay not support this? There are so many tablets with MW now.

There have been threads on this I'm sure, but I'm lazy.

Mine are: Color Note, One Note, Evernote, GPS Status and the Dolphin browser.

Have an issue with the multi window "tray." I CAN'T pair any apps together in my Multi Window tray. The "create" option is greyed out! Anyone else have this issue or better yet, any suggestions??? I use the multi window feature regularly, so this is really frustrating that I can't pair my most used apps together! Any help would really be appreciated, thanks!

So - obvious questions first. Do you have pairs on your list already. Are the apps you want to pair compatible with mw and either on the mw sidebar or available to add from the Edit overflow list.
The Create, Edit and Help buttons are always greyed out but they work on mine OK. I just paired two, though don't use it much.
Maybe there is a limit to how many pairs can be made. There is a guide in the Help button but you would know this.

You should be good to go if you just ignore the fact it is greyed out. It will show you to open the 2 apps you want first then you Create a pair and can rename this pair if you want.

I can give you a screenshot guide, but I can't remember if I like posting screenshots. (joke - I do)

Madd 54- First of all, thanks for taking the time to reply! Second, your right, this was my first attempt at trying to pair some of my MW apps. At the bottom of the tray where your options are, Edit & Done work fine, so I can interchange the diff MW apps in/out of the tray and hit done to complete when I'm through. However, I can't even select the create option, it's greyed out & if I tap on it, it just remains that way, it doesn't let me create/name any (MW) pairs . It doesn't let me do anything in fact! So, yeah, if you can send me a Screenshot or two in case, I'm missing something that would be great! I did go into the "help", but it wasn't helpful at all, if you know what I mean! Thanks again & by the way, Happy, Healthy New Year To Everyone @ AC!!

I have a European Note 3, you may not get the instruction pop up.

Here's what I have: I only get Done if I select edit to add apps to the bar.
From the start I can select Create after tapping the triangle to open. If I don't have the 2 mw apps I want already open, I get the pop up.
I chose Gallery and Play Store (showing Instagram) this time. Once they are both on the screen, I hit Create and it offers to edit or leave the app names together.

I hope it works for you.

ADDED: I think don't use Edit if the apps you want are in the sidebar thing already. You can slide them there first.

Thanks for the screenshots!! And yes, I get the Done button after tapping on the triangle & editing one of the MW apps as well. Tapping the Create button is where the problem comes in for me.
( I should've made this more clear from the start.) Your right in saying ALL the options @ the bottom are a grey color, they are, But my Create button is like completely greyed out, its much lighter than the Edit & help button. The Create button just isn't working-period! I tried selecting Create & then the 2 apps to pair & also the other way with selecting 2 apps first & then Create to try and pair them but no cigar! Well, thanks for your scrnshots & input, I'll have to keep messing with it & see what happens??

Yes, you're right. I tried a few things.
It may be your carrier software or another app. I will look at it tomorrow or get help. Shame there is not a Multi Window app to clear data/cache.

Things I notice on your 2nd shot. I cannot make the paired apps reduce to allow screen space, just make one shorter than the other; and I have blue dots and borders for resizing. I don't use MW much at all though. Yours look like Pen Windows where you draw a box, but I tried to do the same and I don't think they are. My Create box only blanks out when using Edit.
I am on Android 4.4.2 not locked to any carrier.

Speak later if no one figures it out.
@JPR is a guy for this.

DMarie's screenshots are not from a Note 3. That's a Note 4. You should have stated that since multiwindow works differently in some important aspects between the two.

From your screenshots, you still have not shown the proper steps needed to create window groups/pairs in order for us to know if it is or is not working. Your screenshots show pop-up view windows, not two apps opened in multiwindow splitscreen. Do what Madd posted and open two apps in multiview and see if you can choose create then.

If the problem exists when following the right steps, then you'd probably be better off posting in the Note 4 forum so that people with the same multi-window functionality can help you.

I am sure DMarie04 did a search for a MW thread and we both didn't realise.

They are similar but not similar.

I hope you get a solution OP. On the Note 3, you just tap on one icon in the MW bar and it opens full screen, but opening another icon gives the split screen as JPR put it.

JPR & Madd54- THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! That was the issue! Making sure the 2 MW apps were opened up in a split screen as opposed to the pop up view. That enabled my Create option to finally be selected! I can't tell you how happy I am to finally get this figured out, thanks to both of you!
