I want to replace the thermal compound as the my note 3 has gotten some extensive use over the years and I'm getting some very high throttling temps that are not software or sd card related.

I'm very familiar with applying and removing thermal compounds from pcs, but im unsure of which chip is the gpu on this phone and what the recommended bead size is for both cpu and gpu to apply.

I would guess it's more you take a small amount on your finger and smear it on the chip. The reason I say that is the mobile chip is going to be small, so this might help control the amount that goes on the chip.

iFixIt.com might have a tear down of the phone in their archives... they go through EVERYTHING and point out all the chips on the board.
