I'm looking for a list of must have app list for the Note 4. I actually coming over from the Galaxy S5 and admittedly have not even scratched the surface of that phone. I want to maximize my usage of the Note 4 as I don't plan on another phone for about 2 years unless something blows my mind. Also I left my Iphone 5s for the Galaxy.

Thanks in advance.

I am in the same boat as you are my first note and looking for pas as well

Yep, same here! I haven't had an android phone for 2 long years and I would to know what the must have's are :)

That depends on YOU.
Some people are gamers, and will want a lot of games.
Some people are power users, they will want word processing, spreadsheet, and stock market tools.
Some people are data consumers. They need the best web browsers and news readers.
Some people are social media users. Facebook, twitters, etc.
Some people also simply like to explore different apps. They will load up memory with things that they only use once or twice.
Some people like to explore the world. They will load up memory with dozens of offline maps and points of interest.

So what do YOU want to do?

Me, I am mostly into maps and productivity tools.
Google maps, of course. CoPilot, OSMand+, Maprika and Locus offline maps. Also Field Trips, Gasbuddy, Waze and Kayak for when traveling.
OneNote, Stock Watcher, Documents To Go, WunderList and FolderSync to keep my documents synced to the OneDrive cloud and synced to my personal FTP server.

This thread would be better if it were separate threads based on the category of apps. I only use my phone for business so all the apps I have are business related. Someone that doesn't use their phone for business wouldn't have any interest in any of the apps I use.

I think they just want general apps that really work well with s-pen and a large qhd screen, not necessarily categorized.

I'd like to know if there are any cool doodling/art apps that work well with the s-pen..

I posted this to the 10.1 (2014) section a few weeks ago, so you might try looking through that section as well, many of the Note tablet apps should also be great on the Note 4. I also agree this is very subjective, but this is my list of "must haves" and some are very job specific.

I always enjoy this type thread. Seems I find something awesome that I would have never tried each time I read through. So, here is a list of my favorites.

Onenote (Latest update allows for ink)
Android Central App (of course)
Dropbox
OneDrive
Amazon
Cisco AnyConnect (VPN)
Microsoft RD Client
Jump
WiFi Analyzer
VNC Viewer
Fing (network scanner)
ES File Explorer (allows for file server connection)
Nine (Exchange mail client)
ADPMobile (job specific)
ADP Service Connect (job specific)
Kingsoft Office
Spotify
SwipePad
theScore
Weatherbug
Zedge

I've had the Note 3 since launch, just got the Note 10.1 2014 a few days ago. What an awesome pair. Can't wait for the Note 4 to arrive.

An excellent observation. I suggest that when you get your new Note 4 use Touchwiz and the Samsung installed apps to really see what the S pen with its much enhanced functionality can do. I know many folks bad mouth Touchwiz but I have used all of the popular replacement launchers and to my mind Touchwiz is better in most areas and is definitely much better with apps and functionality specific to the S pen.

As far as the SPen, if you like to take handwritten notes, I suggest LectureNotes. There is a free version that is fully functional but with limited notebook space. Paid version gives you unlimited. Lots of features in it. Been using it for months and I keep finding new things it can do. It also has addons you can purchase to record sound and record what you are writing/drawing onscreen that can be converted to an mp4 video.

For the person who asked about drawing, there is a Galaxy version of autodesk sketchbook included that will probably already be installed on your phone or you can download it from the Galaxy app store.

I would suggest using all the apps that your phone comes with first. Then try out the Google apps for whatever you need. I think this will actually suffice for many people. It is often very very commonly overlooked, but Google apps are superb in terms of integration, usability, and functionality. For drawing/writing try out the note/sketch app included before going on a downloading spree...they work very well on my Note 10.1.

Nothing beats Gmail, Google Maps, and Chrome (at least for me). I also use Yelp, Evernote, Google Keep, Google Finance, and Google Translate quite often. Recently I've been trying out Hangouts and it works pretty seamlessly (texting/google voice calls).

I also use my banking app, Dropbox, and Circa (news). The Yahoo news app is also quite popular. For more customization you can try out feedly.

More of fringe apps (as mentioned above, dependent on user) would be for me, Duolingo (learn foreign language), along with medical reference texts and apps that I use for school. AnkiDroid is also a very good flashcard program.

I don't really play games on my phone so I don't have any loaded at the moment. With the bigger screen and battery life that may change :)

Then there are tons of other apps I'm sure many people use like social media apps (Twitter, SnapChat, Facebook, Instagram, etc), video/movie apps (Youtube, Netflix), ebook/audio book apps (Audible, Kindle, Newstand), forums (Reddit, Quora), music (Songza, Spotify, Pandora). Really...anything you can think of it's probably there.

On the Galaxy Gifts link ( I can't link yet, 10 posts required)

Autodesk Sketchbook Pro
Hancom Office
ArtRage

And I will get a GPS app like scout, if it doesn't have one already.

Nova launcher :)

Wow, a lot of people switching to Android! :)

As written before, the "must have" apps are a really subjective thing. Anyway, here is my list (excluding games):

Dropbox (or OneDrive, Box, Google Drive etc.) - basically you need somewhere to store your things besides a phone.
Tools Box Smart - a smartphone equivalent of a Swiss army knife, which will sooner or later come in handy
ScanWritr Pro - a scanner app to capture physical documents, add signature, fill out forms and send them etc.
Google Now - a really smart personal assistant that really makes things easier for you
WhatsApp - instant messaging app that everybody uses (I'm sure you know it)

Like most people here have already suggested, "best" and "must have" apps vary according to a person's needs and preferences.

So, my favortite S-pen apps include the native Action Memo, Papyrus and Evernote Skitch. I don't use Sketchbook but it is certainly one of the best S-pen apps out there. You may also want to checkout S-pen Launcher.

My other favorite apps (apps that I consider "must have" for my needs and purposes) include AppDialer Pro, Cast Store, Chrome, Chromecast, Dropbox, ES File Explorer, Evernote, Facebook, Viber, Plume, Gmail, Google+, Hangouts, GWiki, SwiftKey, Hamro Nepali Keyboard (to type in my native Nepali language/script), Headsup, Keku, Jetflicks, Google Maps, BS Player, Netflix, YouTube, PayPal, Pandora, Pushbullet, QuickOffice, QuickPic, Skype (although I don't use it on phone that often as opposed to on my computer), SoftCard, Swapps, Timely, TVPortal, Zedge, GWiki .....
