I've not needed any anti virus on my phone but I'll be getting my note 4 on Friday. Do I need to download any and if so which one is best?

Re: Coming from IOS and apple

Used android for years and never had a virus or heard of anyone having a virus. If you stick to the play store and keep your device up to date you'll never get one either.

I thought that was the case. I've had android before and I didn't bother then.

Re: Coming from IOS and apple

Just download ur apps on playstore... If u sideload apk from outside make sure to upload them first at virustotal.com just in case...

All these years never had virus on android at playstore. If someone said there's a virus on playstore ask them the link.. 100% they can't show it because there is none.

Yes there are viruses for android, typically you get them by illegaly downloading pirated apps through torrents or by clicking on bad links in the web. Its not really needed if you only download through trusted app stores legally such as the play store. Avast is a nice one I use them for my phone and PC as well. They have pass code locks for accessing various features of the phone such as your settings or the play store and so on...

To the OP... like the others have said, sticking with the Google Play Store will keep you safe. Also, in the security setting make sure that "unknown sources" stays unchecked & "verify apps" stays checked.

If you feel more comfortable using an antivirus though, don't let anyone or anything stop you from doing so. The worst that happens with them is it may slow down the phone a bit, but with the Note 4 I doubt you'll notice.

I downloaded and paid for Prince of Persia from the Play store . Verizon's virus checker warned me of a Trojan. I got a refund.

I use Google play store, Amazon appstore, I sideload from other websites and I have never had any problems with viruses or anything.

So will I be okay to go to pornmd.com still like I do on my iPhone?

Not to take this too far off topic, but other than deactivating iMessage, is there anything I need to make sure I do before I switch?

I've been using android for almost 6 years. Never had a virus. Sometimes you need to use good instict and stay way from anything that looks shady. Dload apps only from the play store and you'll be fine.

ditto, for android and MS Windows. Never. Since '95. That's almost 20 years for Windows and 5 on android virus free on 2 platforms that Apple would have us believe has a malware problem. And I even visit norty websites. In fact back in the late 90's I was frequently on pretty much every shady hacking site around and still never got hit. Got some warnings from my AV doing that though but none got through lol.

On Windows I would call it a worthy investment
