Note 4 "Ok Google" will not work, have tried everything

Since day 1 I have been unable to get Ok Google to work properly. I have Ok Google Detection all turned on, trained my voice at least 15x (I speak English as a first language) and have tried just about everything yet it doesn't work. I can say "Ok Google" until I'm blue in the face and my phone does absolutely nothing.

Any ideas???

EDIT: I googled the problem and people are saying that Ok Google only works when I'm in the Google Now screen or am using Google Launcher. That doesn't quite make sense though- why would the 'always on' and 'lock screen' options be available then?

There should be an option somewhere to have it always listening let me try to find it.

Ok click on the red voice search then hold down recent apps button to bring up menu. click on voice then ok Google detection. There will be options for when you want it to respond.

Settings - System - Language and Input - Speech - Voice Search - "OK Google Detection" - Always On

If you disabled svoice it will not work. That happened with me. Had to turn it back on.

Really? I disabled S-Voice on my Note 2 and "OK Google" still works.

Edit: Nevermind. S-Voice had an update and it's activated again.

Re: Note 4 "Ok Google" will not work, have tried everything

Edit= I restarted my phone and now it's working. The Ole restart to fix everything.

*quietly screams*

I was just going to tell you that. I was having a similar issue, restarted my phone and began working. There would be an update soon to fix that hopefully.

Seems hotword detection is having a bit of an issue. If I retrain the voice model, it will work for a little while, then it stops working again. It still works fine from within Google Now, but no where else. It's like the "Always On" function is not working.

Anyone else seeing this issue?

Re: "Ok Google" Not working

Yeh mine was working first couple of days when screen was off but not now. Only when I tap the actual microphone icon next to the google box does it work now. Not sure why.

Re: "Ok Google" Not working

There's a couple of different threads going on where people are reporting similar issues. Honestly if I use Google with voice I generally just tap the mic in the search bar. I've been using S Voice on my Note 4 and it seems much improved from previous versions to me. It will wake the phone from sleep and perform pretty much all the same functions as Google.

It's not working with S Voice either. I have to tap the microphone, wake up command doesn't do anything.

Re: "Ok Google" Not working

Check what apps have permission to access notifications or have Administration access. A lot of times that's the culprit. It happened to me when I set my Toq up.

Re: "Ok Google" Not working

Only administrator is Android device manager. And Samsung Gear was allowed to read notifications. I disabled both and still not working.

This was working fine when I first got my Note. The only major change was the update they pushed out and I'm starting to suspect that's the cause of my issues.

Assuming you have tried rebooting? You may also consider clearing the cache partition, could be a temp file causing an issue.

Re: "Ok Google" Not working

I disabled voice wake up in S Voice and now "OK Google" works fine.

Had both active on my last phone, I guess now it's one or the other. Guess I'll stick with Google only since S Voice is not activating the mic when it opens.

No both work for me. I suspect a rogue app.
