Re: The best of... Android apps

Handcent SMS- A lot of good features, plus privacy box.

Maildroid- Again a lot of good features, a combined inbox for all of your accounts, plus simple intuitive navigation. Easy to setup all of your accounts.

WeatherBug/ HTC Sense- I got WeatherBug as a FAOTD over at Amazon, back when they were giving away useful things, and liked it, would I have paid for it? No. However, HTC Sense has pretty good weather, not that it helps you. Sorry.

Stock App for Tweets- Really don't use this much.

Google Stock Calendar- I've tried some others that use your GCalendar but even though they have some decent features none of them had at least what GC had so I stuck with it. Maybe someone will reply to this thread with what I've been looking for.

I'll just combine the last two, widgets and launcher, HTC Sense- I see where a lot of people don't or didn't like Sense but Sense 6.0 is pretty good. Again I know this won't help you, but Sense is IMO the best launcher, but they could use a few more widgets or at least slightly more customizable ones that allow you to adjust the size or turn features completely off. I've tired others that are just not as intuitive, for me anyway.

Re: The best of... Android apps

Messaging: Using Chomp because its more featured than Textra, but am turned off by the ads. May switch back to Textra.

Mail: Haven't investigated this because I never went wrong with Gmail. I use the stock app for my school email but like I said... I haven't investigated this.

Weather: This, I have investigated. For me, its 1Weather, hands down.

Twitter: Hardly ever use, but when I do, its the regular twitter app.

Calendar: The stock Note 4 Calendar app but only because its the only app that works well with the s-pen.

Launcher: Nova....

Actually delco, you aren't "plain" You are using the aftermarket launcher Samsung chose instead of you choosing. Nothing wrong with that but TouchWiz was just another launcher sometime back from what I am told...

Re: The best of... Android apps

I use OneNote for Android because the notes I take with the S Pen can be added to my OneNote folders that I use on my tablet and PC.

I agree with this. I also use Onenote and the notes are in sync across all my devices. I'm not sure how I survived before Onenote.

Re: The best of... Android apps

Messaging - Handcent
Mail - gmail stock (although considering another)
Weather - Wunderground
Twitter - generic twitter
Calendar - SolCalender
Widgets - battery widget, make your clock, minimalist text (clock, etc)
Launcher - didn't know I had a choice until the other day! Looking into it

For notes, I am currently looking into several. Keep, Papyrus, and Smart Note. I've used Notepad for a long time but its simplicity has become annoying. Keep is the only one that syncs. I am not a fan of Evernote and I hate hate that I can't uninstall the dang thing.

Gotta chime in for OneNote here...It's great even if you aren't totally Office365 like me. It syncs immediately.

On my desktop, I use OpenOffice and on my tablet and phone, I use OfficeSuite Pro since it is one of the few than can handle the odt format. I'll look into OneNote.
