Swap carrier software?

So I bought my Note 4 used and it was activated on Telus (Canada). I'm on Koodo and just did a factory reset, but it still installed/left on the Telus software.

Is there any way to truly refresh the device and get Koodo app instead of Telus? It's not a huge deal, just want to start off the "right" way...

You get an app by installing it. Factory reset should more properly be called "delete anything I've added to or changed on the phone". If you mean you want the Koodo picture to come up when you turn the phone on, that's a file in a system area, so the phone has to be rooted. But that's all it is - a picture.
