My Galaxy Note 4 doesn't recognise spacing

When entering a new phone number in the Contacts, my Galaxy Note 4 doesn't do spacing between the numbers. Please anyone help to get this easy job sorted out? Will really appreciate it.

How are you entering the number?

Assuming you are in the US, if you enter the standard 10 digits it will format to xxx-xxx-xxxx when you save the contact.

If you enter less than 10 digits, it won't format automatically. It's still waiting for the remaining digits.

If you add more than 10 (1-xxx-xxx-xxxx) it doesn't format that either.

Hi Latufu. Thanks for your advice but as I'm not in the States but Australia, in this case this won't work either.

If there;s no way to do it on the phone, you can add your contacts through the google side itself
