Why can't I access my contacts since my last software update?

Contact List Updating

I have a Note 4 thru AT&T. I did a software update yesterday and everything went well except I couldn't access my contacts. I got a Contact List Updating message with a swirling arrow. This has been going on for more than a day. I don't have access to my contacts. I went to the AT&T store and they were not very helpful. They said I needed to reset my phone which was the last thing I want to do. Anyone have this problem and any solutions? Thanks.

Check Google Contacts for your contacts. If they're all there, turn off contact syncing for a while. The server may be having a problem, they could be working on it, etc.
