Peel smart remote app starts on its own

Every once in a while, I'll go to the recent apps screen and find that the peel smart remote app has started, even though I didn't voluntarily open it

Hmm. I'll have to check out my device to see if this happens. Haven't really noticed.

I have noticed this as well. I have a Galaxy S5. It doesn't present a problem as far as I can tell, but things like that annoy the heck out of me! I seldom use the app, so I'm tempted to disable it.

I'm having the same issue.
I mean, it's easy enough to close, but I'd like to know why it's happening.

Peel tries to be an entertainment center hub, so once you set it up it wants to download listings and allow you to just click on "show me this show" and it takes care of the rest. Which is a severe pain in the tuckus for those of us who don't even HAVE a TV subscription and just want to use it to control IR devices.

It is probably turning itself on to download listing updates, trying to find things that you may be interested in watching based on your setup, etc.

I disabled it and just got another remote app.
