How to transfer files, pics, vids from Note to Macbook?

I've got a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and I am trying to transfer photos, videos and files to my Macbook Pro and no interface appears on my Mac when I connect the phone via a USB plug. I downloaded ES File Explorer on my phone and I connected it to my Wifi, but it won't transfer a video file saying that I need to connect to the Wifi even though ES itself says I'm connected. Is it possible that the file is too large (175 MB)? Is there another, easier, faster way to transfer pics, vid and files from my phone to my Macbook?

I use Android File Transfer. Works pretty good. There's the occasional large file it won't transfer but I just use the SD card if it doesn't move it. I've had very little issues with it.
