Galaxy 4 overheating, won't do anything

My wife's Galaxy 4 won't turn off and is hot. Screen logo fading in and out, same with blue light. No buttons work. Can someone help me diagnose this?

Have you tried pulling the battery out?

It's in a strange case she couldn't remove. Anyway, the problem solved itself. Whatever it was it just stopped.
