How To Disable 4G/LTE On Verizon Note 5?

I live in an area with spotty reception so Verizon sent me a network extender, but it isn't 4G compatible. It works fine for 3G and my iPhone 6 Plus would let me force it on to the 3G network by turning 4G off, but I can't find that option on my Note 5 so it always tries to pull a 4G signal and as a result I always get a ton of dropped calls and failed messages. So if there is no way to force the Note off of 4G, I'm going to have to give it up for a 6S Plus, which I really don't want to do. I'm hoping there are secret network menus that I'm not aware of that would help me accomplish this, but I don't know. Please help! Thank you in advance.

You would need root, which I don't think is available for the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 5. Optionally you can get a signal booster to boost the lte signal.

That's what I feared, but thank you for the confirmation.
