when down-converting videos that i want to watch on Note5 only, should I use 720p or 1080p?

the videos that I have are very large 1080p ones.

the native screen resolution on the Note5 is 2560x1440 (1440p) when playing 720p or 1080p videos, they get zoomed in to fill the 1440p screen... I assume I should use 1080p because it is closer to 1440p, so I'll have a better picture when playing it back on the Note5.

1080p video isn't really distinguishable from 720p until you get bigger than 40 inches so I'd stick with 720p to save space.
