My Note 5 started having this problem yesterday.

After I touch the home button or the power button
wake up the screen, the touchscreen is completely
non-responsive. If I turn the screen off and turn
it back on again, then it's fine... then several hours
later, the same thing would occur again.

I have tried restarting it a few times. Also tried doing
a battery pull. (just kidding... there's no removable
battery... just testing to see if everyone is paying
attention :D )

I have not installed any new apps or made any
changes in the last few days.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has ever seen
this problem. If not, I plan to do a complete
factory reset and see what happens. :(

Thanks!

Im with this issue since day one. With me its worse. Capacitive buttons would come on but not screen regardless what i do for about 5 or 10 seconds. If it does on screen everything is frozen or unlock wont work. Then eventuallynit springs back into action. It all started just like what you describe but got worse. Tried factory reset and tried cache partition clear.
There is a thread on xda and only proposal is to flash different firwmwarw which will void your warranty.
So pissed off

I think battery pull is a good move, haha. I've had it a couple times over the last month or so. I've noticed it when I haven't done a phone restart in a couple days. I do that and then no issues

Do you have an international version or US carrier version?

International phones are where I've seen this known issue.

I have three Verizon Note 5s and they are now doing it. I did a factory reset on one of them.
I removed the SIM card and put it in airplane mode, so it was just like when I unboxed it for the
very first time. Will not touch it until tonight and see if the problem occurs...

Have you received an update of any kind? Security or app?

Does it happen the same if on WiFi or on mobile?

now that I think about it, all three have received the recent
OTA update from Verizon.(the one that enabled Verizon
Note 5 users to install Samsung Pay) Don't know if that
was the reason? I did install Samsung Pay on all of them,
but uninstalled them after I submitted them for the free
wireless charger offer.

Might want to disable Samsung Pay with package disabler, wipe cache..

because we didn't get Samsung Pay preinstalled on the Note 5.

Are you saying that non-Verizon Note 5 can't uninstall the Samsung Pay app?

Right.. And IIRC, it might can only be disabled with Package Disabler Pro. That isn't 100% it is possible it can be disabled in App Manager.

I've experienced this issue mostly in my first week or two with the phone (bought it a month ago); would happen once or twice a day.

Have not experienced it as often lately - perhaps once this past week.

International version unlocked as well.
