Screen does not react to stylus

Something strange happened to my Galaxy Note 5 last night. It stopped reacting to the touch of the stylus. It still reacts to the touch of my finger. It registers the stylus hovering over the screen, but when I touch the screen, there's no effect. I cannot draw, write, type or even start apps using the stylus.

I dropped the stylus on the floor last night - can this be the cause of the problem? The stylus doesn't appear broken or dented or anything. The plastic tip is still in place.

Has anybody had this issue? How can I fix it?

I remember when I broke my Spen in half I got to see the internal components... I did see the inside is very flimsy... The tip has a coil that wrapped around the top of the Spen and I bet that drop either damaged or the coil's core was damaged because it's so fragile inside the Spen.
