Can Best Buy Charge me if I resell their contract phone for a profit?

A

AC Question

I upgraded my contract with Sprint and signed the two year contract. I went ahead and purchased a Note 5 at a subsidized price at Best Buy. The sales rep mentioned to me that I can't turn around and sell that phone for a profit because Best Buy doesn't allow that. Is that true and the phone is locked to the contract? Or can I resell that phone for the full regular price with no issues?

There is a time period in the contract that you have to keep the line open... Otherwise best buy doesn't get credit for the sale from the carrier. I don't remember what the amount of time is though. You don't need to keep it the full 2 years... It's definitely less than that

as long as you paid it in full, then no. and if im wrong, as long as they got their money for it, they are not chasing YOU for it

Best buy doesn't allow it, but at the same time best buy doesn't have a secondary etf, so you are only stuck with the terms from sprint.
