Outlook won't sync Google account

Every time I try I keep getting this error message: "The connection to your mail server timed out. Please check your mail settings." Syncing something else like Yahoo for instance syncs with no issues. Anyone have ideas on how to resolve this. Not sure what settings it's referring to exactly.

Did you do an automatic setup of Gmail or did you input the settings manually? If you did automatic setup try deleting the Gmail account and doing a manual setup. The Outlook app is notoriously buggy.

Also check if you have the 2 step verification process on that Google account, you'll have to generate a code to use with Outlook. You do that in the same settings tab where you turned on 2 step verification in the first place IIRC.

You'd know if you were using it, so that's not the problem.
